Independent design & web studio — Gossau, Switzerland

Est. 2026

A studio of one, built on taste and patience.

I'm Milan — eighteen, based in Switzerland, and building milan.swiss into a small design practice for people who care how their work looks and how it holds up. No account managers, no handoffs. You talk to the person doing the work.

01 / Studio

Founder-led, and deliberately small.

I started designing because I couldn't leave interfaces alone — the spacing that was almost right, the type that was nearly balanced. That impulse turned into a practice. milan.swiss is where it lives now: a studio run by one person, from Gossau, working with people who want something made properly rather than made quickly.

Being eighteen isn't the pitch. It just means I've grown up on the web this work is made for, I'm not carrying a decade of habits, and I have the time to sit with a problem until the answer is obvious rather than adequate.

The studio is currently shaping its first client engagements. That's a deliberate pace — I'd rather open the doors with a body of work I stand behind than take everything that comes and dilute it.

Small is the strategy. You get the person who made the decisions, not a summary of them.

02 / Focus

Four things, done properly.

The studio's opening scope. Narrow on purpose — these are the areas I can take responsibility for end to end, from the first sketch to the live site.

Not a full-service agency, and not trying to be. If a project needs photography, copywriting at scale or a large engineering team, I'll say so early and point you somewhere better.

03 / Work

Concept studies, openly labelled.

No client work is published yet — so nothing here pretends to be. These are self-initiated briefs I set myself to develop the studio's range and prove out the details.

Concept study · Brand & web

An identity and one-page site for an imagined Alpine guiding company. Built to test how far a layout can be reduced before it stops feeling warm.

Type-led layout, no photography above the fold

Concept study · Design system

A pastel-first design system published as its own documentation site — tokens, dark mode and accessibility rules written as a system rather than a set of screens.

Self-initiated · Landing page

A single-page template for independent makers selling one product. An exercise in how little a page needs to be persuasive.

This site. The studio's own first brief — a working demonstration of the palette, typography and restraint I bring to client projects.

Swiss grid, pastel surfaces, motion kept quiet

04 / Process

From first conversation to live site.

Four stages, no ceremony. Short enough to stay honest about where a project stands at any moment.

  1. Conversation

We talk before anything is designed. What the project is for, who it speaks to, what success actually looks like. No brief template, no account manager in between.

  2. Direction

One considered direction rather than three safe ones — palette, typography and layout logic, argued for rather than presented as options.

  3. Craft

Design and build happen together, in the browser, on real content. You see progress as it happens instead of waiting for a reveal.

  4. Launch

Performance, accessibility and SEO checked before go-live, then handed over with everything documented so the work stays yours.

Philosophy

What I refuse to compromise on.

Quality over volume
A small number of projects at a time, each given the attention it needs. Fewer clients is the point, not a limitation.
Clarity first
Plain language, honest timelines, one price agreed up front. You always know where a project stands.
Built to last
Clean markup, no framework churn, no dependency on me forever. Work that still holds up in five years.
Detail as a habit
Spacing, contrast, focus states, the loading moment nobody photographs. The parts users feel without naming.

05 / Contact

Let's connect.

The studio is booking from autumn 2026 and open to select collaborations before then. If you have something taking shape — even loosely — I'd like to hear about it.
